Must know
- Available when a superadmin enables Jitney Leagues for your club. It is new in Uplifter Curling (CCM leagues had fixed teams and team points only), so it is off for every club until Uplifter switches it on. Ask your Uplifter contact.
- A jitney league has no fixed teams. Curlers register as individuals and say I’m in or I’m out for each night. Staff shuffle whoever is in into that night’s teams and publish them. Points go to each curler, not to a team.
- By default a curler gets 1 point for playing a night, plus 3 for a win, 2 for a tie and 0 for a loss. The attending point is added on top of the result, so a win is worth 4, a tie 3 and a loss 1.
- Results are entered the usual way, on the Draws tab or in the League Portal. Individual points and standings update from those results.
- Switch the format before you make any teams. A league that already has fixed teams can’t be switched to Jitney until they are removed.
1
Create the league and give it nights
Create the league as usual, with a Start Date, an End Date and a weekly pattern (for example Tuesday 7:00 pm). The league’s nights come from its saved draws and sessions or, if it has neither, from every matching weekday between the start and end dates. Nights on a club holiday are skipped. Register curlers the usual way, or let them sign up on the storefront.
2
Switch the format to Jitney
Open the league, go to League Setup, and find the Team format card at the top. Set Format to Jitney — new teams every night, individual points. Fill in the rest of the card:
- Curlers per team (4 by default, anything from 2 to 6)
- Answer cutoff (minutes before the first game): how long before the night’s first game members stop being able to change their answer. The default is 120 (two hours) and the maximum is 10080 (a week).
- Individual points: Attending, Win, Tie and Loss. The line underneath works out the totals, for example Attending is added on top of the result: a win scores 4, a tie 3, a loss 1.

Let curlers answer
Registered curlers answer I’m in or I’m out from My Account → My Teams on the club site. They can change their answer until the cutoff or until you publish that night’s teams. A curler who doesn’t answer counts as not coming. Curlers who drop in without registering, whether they booked the night online or you add them at the desk, get the same card on My Teams for the nights they dropped in to. See How do I say I’m in for a jitney night and see my points?.
4
Run the night
On the Jitney tab, pick the night. At the desk, mark anyone In or Out and add drop-ins. Then use Build tonight’s teams to shuffle, adjust and publish. See How do I build tonight’s teams for a jitney league?.
5
Enter results
Publishing creates that night’s teams and games on the night’s sheets. Enter each result on the Draws tab, in the League Portal’s Results, or on the classic games screen, the same as for any game. Points follow automatically.
What switching to Jitney changes
- Signup becomes individual only. Saving the Jitney format switches Capture team info at registration off and Accept individual entries on. There is no team to register, because each night’s teams are built from whoever is in.
- Points-mode leagues get a points row. If the league records results as Points assigned and has no points grid yet, saving adds one league-wide win / tie / loss row from your jitney values so results can be entered. A points grid you already set up is left alone. Individual standings always use the Team format card’s numbers.
- Standings become individual. The Standings tab, the League Portal’s Results page and the public league page show Individual standings in place of the team tables. The public league page follows the league’s usual publish settings: results and standings must both be published, only published games count, and the team list is hidden. The schedule still names the night teams.
How points and ranking work
Only nights with a recorded result count. Curlers sitting out, or on a night whose result hasn’t been entered, get nothing for that night. Points adjustments on the Jitney tab add or take away points for one curler, with a note. The standings table has the columns #, Curler, Nights, W, L, T, Attending, Results, Adj. and Total. On the public league page, Adj. shows only when someone has an adjustment. Curlers are ranked by total, then wins, then nights played. Curlers level on all three share a rank (1, 2, 2, 4) and are listed by name.
Good to know
- Drop-ins are recorded, not charged. A drop-in added at the desk plays and scores, and sees that night’s team and their points on My Teams, but no invoice is created. To charge one, create an invoice.
- Members can’t enter jitney results. Night teams are not listed in the member’s team list, so Participant scoring is not offered for jitney games. Staff and convenors enter the results.
- The rink TV board and the canned reports still show team standings for a jitney league, counting each night’s teams as teams. The League Portal doesn’t: its {n} teams count is the league’s own teams, which is 0 for a jitney league.
- Switching to Jitney is refused while the league has fixed teams (This league already has N teams — remove them before switching to the jitney format.). Delete them on the Teams tab first.
- Switching back to fixed teams is refused while any night has published teams (This league already has night teams — unpublish every night before switching back to fixed teams.). A night with a result can’t be unpublished, so once a season has been played it stays jitney. Switching back doesn’t turn team capture back on; do that yourself in the league’s settings.
- Duplicate and Copy to next season don’t copy the jitney format or its settings. Set Team format again on the new league.
- New view only. The Team format card, the Jitney tab and the individual standings are in the new view. The classic view has no jitney screens.
- Turning the feature off hides the Team format card, the Jitney tab, the member card and individual standings, and every league goes back to looking like a fixed-team league (the Teams tab returns). Nights, teams and results are kept, and turning the feature back on brings everything back unchanged.
