Must know
  • Post shift is disabled until at least one role exists.
  • A shift is either Specific date/time or Recurring / described (“Fridays after the 7pm draw”). As the hint says, “No date means no reminders and no place on the calendar” — described shifts also need Credit hours typed in, since there is no length to derive them from.
  • Assigning a member from the admin side skips the certification check; the member’s own Sign up does not.
  • Also available in the classic view as the role’s Sub-Roles table (What, When, Number Needed, Credits, Order); type in a row’s Order box and Tab away to save it.
  • You can also put a member on a shift from Members → Volunteers → Listing → Add volunteer, with the same capacity check.
1

Post the shift

On Members → Volunteers → Shifts click Post shift. In Post a volunteer shift choose the Role, an optional Title, and When: Specific date/time (Date, Start, End) or Recurring / described with Describe when. Add a Location, the Capacity, Credit hours (blank = the shift’s length; use 0 for a described shift that should not credit hours) and, if you want the role’s shifts in a set order, Order under its role (blank lists the shift after the ordered ones, by date).
2

Watch it fill

The table shows Shift, When, Credits (set or from length), Filled (n/cap), Volunteers and Actions (Assign, Edit, Cancel). Members sign up under Open shifts on the site’s Volunteer page; a blocked button reads Full, Certification required, Certification expired or Signed up.
3

Assign or mark worked

Assign lists members who declared interest in the role first. After the shift, click Worked beside a volunteer to credit the hours (an approved hours entry is created for them) or Remove to take them off.
