Must know
  • Needs volunteers.manage.
  • CCM’s three role types are a Type select in both views: Member volunteer options, Signup for specific roles and Game schedule volunteer options. Leave it on Set by usage and the type is inferred from how the role is used.
  • Order puts roles in the order you want on the admin list, the members’ interest grid and the time tracker’s Event list. A blank Order lists the role after the ordered ones.
  • A role can require volunteer certifications; members without a valid one are blocked from signing up for its shifts (an admin assigning them directly is not).

Open the Roles tab

Go to Members → Volunteers, click the Roles tab, then New role.
2

Describe the role

In New volunteer role enter a Name, choose the Type, give an Order if you want one (a whole number; blank means Unordered), a Category (for example bar, ice, kitchen, events, board) and a Description. The description editor takes bold, lists and links, and members see the formatting on the club site’s Volunteer page. If your club has volunteer certifications, tick any under Required certifications. Click Create.
3

Check the row

The Roles table shows Role, Type (Member, Signup, Game or Set by usage), Order, Category, Required certifications, Shifts, Interested members and Status. Click the Active / Inactive badge to toggle whether the role is offered.

Edit or copy a role

Click the pencil on a role row to open Edit volunteer role with the same fields, then Save. To start a new role from an existing one, click the copy icon on the row, or Save as copy in the edit dialog. The copy is saved as it stands in the form, named “{name} (copy)” (then “(copy 2)” and so on, because role names are unique in a club). It takes the required certifications and every open shift of the original, but none of its sign-ups, interests, hours or game duties. The original is not changed.

In the classic view

The Volunteer Roles screen has New, Publish, Unpublish, Edit and Delete, and an Order box on each row: type a number and Tab away to save it. The Edit Volunteer Role form has Name, Type, Published, Description (a formatting editor) and a Sub-Roles table (the shifts), each with its own Order. The toolbar has Save, Save & Close, Save as Copy and Close; Save as Copy opens the new copy, as CCM did.
