Must know
  • The preview is for staff with the website.edit permission, opened from the admin side. There is no shareable preview link — anyone not signed in is sent to sign in, and other accounts are refused.
  • The preview shows Draft and Members only pages that visitors cannot see, so it is the place to check a page before you publish it.
  • Nothing you do in the preview changes the public site.
Open Website → General and click Preview whole site. It opens in a new tab on your home page if you have set one, otherwise on the list of pages. An amber banner at the top reads Preview — not the live site. Its controls:
  • Viewing as shows whether you are seeing the site as a signed-in member or a public visitor; Switch to public visitor and Switch to member flip between them, which is how you check what a members-only page or menu item looks like to an outsider.
  • All pages lists every club page with its status badge — Published, Draft or Members only.
  • Open live site and Back to dashboard.
The banner also warns you about two situations. Visitors get the built-in home page appears when the page you chose as your front page is still a draft or is members-only — visitors keep seeing the built-in home page until you publish it. Site not published appears while the whole site is still unpublished. Templates have their own preview with a Trying a template bar; see How do I preview and switch templates?. Search engines get their own view of your site: each club has its own /robots.txt and /sitemap.xml on its subdomain (and on a live custom domain). Indexing is allowed only once the site is published on the production platform — until then robots.txt tells search engines to stay out — and the sitemap lists only published, public pages.
