# Why does my club say "spare" instead of "sub"?

> Clubs choose their own words for subs, rounds and divisions, and the site follows.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Your club picks three words: **Subbing** or **Sparing**; **Round**, **Draw** or **Flight**; **Division** or **Pool**.
  * Page titles, buttons and the standings links follow the choice — **My Sparing Availability**, **Spare Lists**, **Total Points for all Draws**, and so on.
  * The meaning is identical; only the label changes. Clubs migrated from CCM keep the words they used there.
</Note>

Curling clubs do not agree on vocabulary, and CCM let each club set its own. Uplifter Curling keeps that. When this guide says **sub**, **round** or **division**, read it as whatever your club's pages say.

Where you will notice it on the club site:

* **Subbing / Sparing** — the **Subbing** and **Sub Lists** buttons on **My Account**, the **My Subbing Availability** page, the **Sub Lists** page, and the **Available to sub?** panel on each league page, including its button, sign-up dialog and messages.
* **Round / Draw / Flight** — the standings links (**Total Points for Each Round**, **Total Points for all Rounds**).
* **Division / Pool** — mostly in your club's own admin screens; on the club site each standings block is headed by the division's own name.

Column letters in the standings (**W, L, T, RP, TP, EW, GP, GS, WP**) never change.
