# What is a team code?

> An 8-character code a skip shares so teammates' registrations land on the same team.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * A **team code** ties several registrations to one team. The skip gets a code and shares it; each teammate types it into **Team Code** when registering for that league.
  * The code is 8 characters and stops working when the league's registration closes.
  * At checkout the team name is taken from the code, so you do not need to retype it.
</Note>

**Getting a code.** On the league's page choose **Register Now**; during that flow a **Get an invite code for teammates** button appears, followed by *Share this code with your teammates so their registrations join your team: \{code}*. Some clubs add a **How are you registering?** step to the wizard with **Register My Team** → **Get team code** (*Team code \{code} — share it with your rink.*) and **Join A Team** → **Find team**.

**Using a code.** In the wizard's league entry panel type it into **Team Code:** (new look: **Invite code (joining a team?)**) and save the entry. Checkout attaches your registration to the skip's team. If the code is wrong or has expired you see *Team invite code for \{league} was not found.* or *Team invite code for \{league} has expired.* — ask your skip for the current one.

Codes were not part of CCM's wizard; they replace typing four names and hoping the spellings matched.
