# What information does Step 1 ask for?

> The personal, emergency-contact and curling fields your club can ask for when you register, and which ones are required.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Your club picks the fields, their order and which are required; a **\*** marks required ones. Name, date of birth and gender are always needed to create a curler.
  * The fields appear in the **New curler** box on the first step (**Your information**, unless your club renamed it), in the club's order and with the club's labels.
  * Phone numbers must have ten digits; they are saved as ###-###-####.
  * Returning curlers are not re-asked here; checkout shows a **Confirm your information** panel if the club wants more details.
</Note>

The full list a club can draw from: **First name**, **Last name**, **Date of birth**, **Gender**, **Secondary email**, **Home phone**, **Work phone**, **Work extension**, **Cell phone**, **Street**, **Address line 2**, **City**, **Province / State**, **Country**, **Postal / ZIP code**, **Emergency contact name**, **Emergency contact relationship**, **Emergency contact phone**, **Emergency contact phone 2**, **Skill level**, **Number of years curled**, **Delivery hand**, **Preferred position**, plus any club-specific questions and fields. A club field can ask for an email address, a web address (starting with http\:// or https\://), or several choices from a list of checkboxes. What you enter in a club field is saved on your curler record. Your email comes from your account and is not asked.

A club migrated from CCM starts with the same 18 fields it asked before, in the same order. Leaving a required field blank shows **\{label} is required.** when you choose **Create curler**. Once the curler is created and selected, choose **Continue**.

Phone numbers must be ten digits. Type them any common way — "(613) 555-0142", "613.555.0142" or "6135550142" — and they are saved as 613-555-0142. A number with the wrong count of digits, letters or an extension is refused with *\{label} must be a phone number like ###-###-####.* Phones already on a curler's record are never re-checked, so a returning curler is not stopped over an old number.

If you are an existing curler with gaps — no address, no emergency contact — the wizard lets you through and checkout shows **Confirm your information**: *This club asks for a few more details about each curler. Add them now, or continue and complete them later from the curler's profile.* Some clubs make this mandatory, in which case the panel reads *This club requires these details before you can continue to payment.*
