# How do I buy or use a gift card?

> Sending a club gift card by email, and redeeming a code at checkout — where the club offers gift cards.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Gift cards are an optional club feature. Where enabled, **Gift Cards** (address `/gift-cards`) sells them from $5 to $1,000; the recipient gets the code by email right after payment.
  * Redeem at checkout: type the code into **Gift card code** and choose **Redeem**. It covers the order, or the rest is **Due by card**.
  * A gift card cannot be combined with a payment plan or with paying at the club.
</Note>

**Buying one.** On **Gift Cards** — *Send a gift card by email — it can be used toward programs, memberships, and anything else at checkout.* — pick an **Amount** ($25, $50, $100 or **Custom**), fill **Recipient name**, **Recipient email**, **Your name**, **Your email (receipt)** and an optional **Personal message**, then **Continue to payment — $\{amount}\*\* and pay. The recipient's email is titled **You've received a gift card!** and says *Enter this code at checkout on the club's website to apply it to your order. Keep it safe - anyone with the code can use it.*

**Using one.** At checkout enter the code and choose **Redeem**. The summary then shows **Gift card •••• \{last4}** with either *($\{bal\} balance — covers this order)* or *($\{bal} applied — \$\{rest} remaining by card)*, and a **Remove** link. If the card is spent you see **That gift card has no balance left**. There is no separate balance-check page; the checkout field tells you the balance.

If your club later turns gift cards off, cards already sold can still be redeemed.
