# What are site templates?

> A template is a named layout for the whole site — colours, fonts, header arrangement, sidebar and sizes — that never touches your content.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * A template changes how pages are arranged and drawn — never what is on them. Pages, text, pictures, menu, logo, favicon, brand colour, contact details, social links, sponsors, footer wording, events and programs all stay.
  * A club imported from CCM lands on **Classic Club** automatically, with the sizes measured from its old site.
  * You can go back one step with **Back to previous template**; there is no longer history.
  * The templates gallery is in the new view only.
</Note>

**Website → Templates** (titled **Site Templates**) shows four cards. Each card is a live picture of *your own* home page drawn under that layout, so you see your content rather than an illustration; the current one carries an **In use** badge.

| Template | Traits |
| - | - |
| **Classic Club** | Logo over the menu · Right sidebar · Condensed type · Rule under headings — the look of a CCM site |
| **Open Ice** | Floating header · Full-width hero · No sidebar · Large type |
| **Editorial** | Masthead · Left sidebar · Reading width · Serif headings |
| **Community Board** | Compact header · Boxed content · Boxed right sidebar · Dense modules |

A template owns the theme colours and fonts, the header arrangement and colours, whether the sidebar is shown, and the size settings on Header & Home. Everything else is content and is left alone — including your sidebar blocks, which are kept even when a template hides the sidebar so they come back if you switch again.

When you leave Classic Club, the sizes measured from your old CCM site are kept aside and restored if you return to it.
