# How do I switch from the frozen copy to the website builder?

> While your site is a frozen copy of your old website the builder is hidden; one confirmed click on Website → General switches your public site to the builder version, and only Uplifter support can switch it back.

  **Must know**

  * While the copy is live, the **Website** section shows only **General** and **Form Submissions**. Pages, Club Pages, Site Menu, Site Sidebar, Header & Home, Templates, Theme, Media Library, Photo Galleries, Newsletters, News & Articles, Sponsors & Alerts, Documents and Team are hidden from the sidebar and ⌘K, because nothing changed there would reach visitors.
  * The custom-domain panel on **General** still works: the copy is served on your own domain too.
  * The switch is one way from your side. To go back to the copy, contact Uplifter support. Nothing you build is lost if they do; it simply stops being shown.

  <Step title="Look at the builder version first">
    On **Website → General**, press **Preview the builder version**. It opens your site as the builder would serve it, in a new tab. Visitors still see the copy.

  <Step title="Start the switch">
    Press **Switch to the new website builder**. You need the **website.edit** permission.

  <Step title="Confirm">
    The dialog **Switch to the new website builder?** explains that your public site will serve the builder version — a near-exact recreation you can edit page by page. Tick **I understand my site will switch to the new builder version, which is a near-exact recreation, and I can review it before publishing.** and press **Switch to the builder**. **Preview first** opens the same preview.

  <Step title="Review and publish">
    The message reads "Your site now runs on the website builder. Review it, then publish." The banner goes away and every builder screen is back in the sidebar. The public site changes over within about 15 seconds.

## If you open a hidden page

A bookmark to a builder screen, such as the Site Menu, lands on **Website → General** with the note "The page you opened is part of the website builder, which is hidden while the copy is live: nothing changed there would be what visitors see."

## What keeps working while the copy is live

* **Form Submissions** — messages from the **Contact us** page arrive here, as does everything received before cutover.
* Site alerts already set under Sponsors & Alerts still show on the new system's pages, such as registration; they cannot be edited until you switch.
