# How do I set up the site sidebar?

> Website → Site Sidebar is the column of blocks shown beside your club pages.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * The sidebar appears beside club pages (`/pages/…`) and a custom home page. The built-in home, news and product pages use the smaller **Sidebar touts** from Website → General instead.
  * Up to 12 blocks. Any page can opt out with its **Full width** switch, or carry its own sidebar instead.
  * Switching site templates turns the sidebar on or off but keeps your blocks.
  * **Member sign-in** is a sign-in button or greeting, not username and password fields.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Turn it on">
    Go to **Website → Site Sidebar**. In the **Show the sidebar** card switch on **Show a sidebar on club pages**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add blocks">
    Under **What is in it**, add blocks the same way you do on a page. Every page block is available except **Columns**, **Tinted section** and **Slider**, plus two sidebar-only blocks: **Member sign-in** (default title "Member login") and **Upcoming events (compact)**. **Sponsors**, **Affiliations**, **Text** and **Heading** are common choices.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Order and save">
    Drag blocks or use the arrows, then click **Save**. The toast reads "Sidebar saved.".
  </Step>
</Steps>

Which sidebar a visitor sees is decided per page, in this order: a **Full width** page has none; a page with **This page's own sidebar** switched on and holding blocks shows those (even if the site sidebar is off); otherwise the site sidebar shows when it is enabled and not empty. On a phone the sidebar moves below the page.
