# How do I edit the site menu?

> Website → Site Menu replaces the built-in navigation with items you control, one dropdown level deep.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * With no items here, the site shows the standard menu built from your **Pages** switches (Home, Programs, Calendar, Events, Store, Facilities, Our Team, News, Contact).
  * Adding the **first** item replaces that whole built-in menu. Add **Home** and every section you still want, because the menu stops following the Pages switches from then on.
  * Up to 60 items and one dropdown level. Deleting a parent deletes its children.
  * A menu link to a section that is switched off under **Pages** (for example `/news` with News off) leads to a "not found" page.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add an item">
    Go to **Website → Site Menu** and click **Add item**. Enter a **Label**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose what it links to">
    Under **Links to** pick **Site section** (Home, Programs & Registration, Calendar, Store, Facilities, Our Team, News, Contact), **Club page** (one of your published pages), or **Custom URL** — either a path like `/register` or a full `https://` address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Place it">
    **Placement** is **Top level** or **Under "X"** to put it inside a dropdown. Set **Visibility** (public or members only) and, if you like, **Open in a new tab**. Save.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reorder">
    Use the up and down arrows on each row, or the edit and delete icons. Changes show on the public site immediately.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Members-only menu items are hidden from signed-out visitors. The page behind the item still checks real membership when it is opened.
