# How do I choose my web address?

> Set your club's subdomain in the Domain Settings card on Website → General.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * The address is `your-subdomain` plus the platform suffix (the field's help text shows an example ending in the suffix). Only lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens are allowed.
  * Availability is checked as you type. A taken or invalid subdomain blocks **Save Changes**.
  * You cannot **Go Live** without a subdomain — you'll see "Please set a subdomain before going live".
  * Your own domain (for example [www.yourclub.com](http://www.yourclub.com)) is a separate feature; see the custom domain article.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Domain Settings">
    Go to **Website → General**. The first card is **Domain Settings** ("Configure your website address.").
  </Step>

  <Step title="Type a subdomain">
    In **Use Uplifter Subdomain** enter a short name such as `my-club`. The builder checks it half a second after you stop typing. Possible messages: "This subdomain is already taken.", "Only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens allowed.", or "Error checking subdomain availability." if the check itself failed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save Changes** at the top of the page. The toast "Website configuration saved" confirms it. The public site answers at the new address right away, but only once you have gone live.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If your plan requires online payments and payment setup is not finished, the General screen shows an amber strip — "Payment processing must be set up before this site can go live." — with a **Set up payments** link. You can still choose the subdomain; publishing is what the warning is about.
