# What is a registration queue?

> A virtual waiting room that admits shoppers in turn on a busy opening day — different from a waitlist.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Available when a superadmin enables **Registration Queues** for your club. Otherwise the page reads "feature unavailable".
  * A queue meters entry to `/register`, the wizard and checkout **before** anyone reaches a form. A waitlist handles a league that is already full. They are separate features.
  * New queues are created inactive; nothing changes until you switch **Active** on.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add a queue">
    Go to **Registrations → Queues** and click **Add Queue**. Choose **Global Queue** (all programs) or one program under **Program-Specific Queues** — one queue per program.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure">
    Click **Configure** and set **Reservation Time (minutes)** (default 10 — how long an admitted shopper's spot is held), **Maximum Concurrent Users** (default 50) and the **Activation Mode**: **Always Active**, **When Threshold Exceeded** (with an **Activation Threshold**) or **During Scheduled Time** (with **Start Time** / **End Time**).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Switch it on">
    Toggle **Active** and click **Save Changes**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Shoppers held back see **You're in the Queue** with **Your position in line**; when admitted, **You're In!** — "Your spot is reserved. Please complete registration." with a countdown. Someone already holding a reservation can always finish, even if you switch the queue off mid-sale.
