# How do I set capacity and a waitlist?

> Cap a league with Maximum Capacity and, where Waitlists is enabled, line curlers up in an automatic or staff-approved waitlist.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * The waitlist step and tab are available when a superadmin enables **Waitlists** for your club; capacity itself is always available.
  * A league at its capacity stays on the signup wizard's list. With an **Enrollment queue (auto-promote)** waitlist that has room, it reads **WAITLIST** and curlers can tick it: the line costs nothing at checkout, the curler is added as **Waitlisted**, and promotion charges the league price when a spot opens. Otherwise (no waitlist, a full waitlist, an **Application queue**, or a league sold by session) it reads **LIMIT REACHED** and cannot be ticked; application-queue curlers join from the league's own page. A league that is closed for registration is left off the list.
  * A curler already in the league sees **ALREADY REGISTERED**, and checkout refuses a second registration. A curler already queued sees **ON THE WAITLIST** while the league is full.
  * The staff proxy desk does not put anyone on a waitlist; there a full league stays **LIMIT REACHED**.
  * To stop signups for a league by hand, without changing its capacity, tick **Mark as filled** on its **League Setup** tab (classic: **Mark as Filled** on League Edit). The league then reads **FILLED** in the wizard.
  * At a club that books registrations at Confirm, a booked but unpaid seat counts against capacity until it is paid or released. See [How do I let members book at Confirm and pay later?](/club/registration-and-signup/how-do-i-let-members-book-at-confirm-and-pay-later).
  * If a league fills between checkout and payment confirmation, the line is refunded automatically; a card payment goes back to the card, other payments go to club credit.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Set the capacity">
    Edit the league, go to **Requirements**, switch on **Capacity Limit** ("Limit the number of members who can enroll") and enter **Maximum Capacity**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on the waitlist">
    On the **Waitlist** step (or tab in Settings) switch on **Enable Waitlist**, pick a **Waitlist style** — **Enrollment queue (auto-promote)** or **Application queue (staff approves)** — and set **Automatic Promotion** and **Maximum Waitlist Size** (blank = Unlimited).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Manage the list">
    On the league's **Waitlist** tab, auto mode lists waiting curlers with **Promote**; automatic promotion moves the next person to Payment Pending and charges their stored card. Application mode shows a **Waitlist applications** card with **Approve** / **Cancel**; approving emails the member and allows one registration while the league is sold out.
  </Step>
</Steps>

With the waitlist off the tab reads "Waitlist is disabled for this program. Enable it in Settings to start accepting waitlisted members."
