# How do I add a convenience fee?

> Add an optional surcharge line to online checkout (and, if you choose, offline orders) from Club Settings.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * The convenience fee is "shown as its own line. Never taxed or discounted." Some jurisdictions restrict surcharges (the card mentions Quebec) — check your local rules.
  * A cheque or cash payment chosen at checkout (**Pay at Club or by Mail**) goes through the offline channel, so it is surcharged only if **Offline / admin orders** is switched on.
  * Saving Club Settings needs *settings.edit*.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the card">
    Go to **Settings → Club Settings** and find **Convenience fee**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure">
    Switch on **Enable convenience fee**. Set the **Label** members see (default "Convenience fee"), a **Percent (%)** and/or a **Fixed (\$)** amount, and choose where it applies: **Online checkout** (on by default) and **Offline / admin orders** (off by default).

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save changes** at the top of the page.

The same **Payments** card above it holds **Accept partial payments** (a deposit now, the balance later) and **Pay at club or by mail**.
