# How do I add custom questions?

> Create scoped, typed registration questions under Members → Questions and decide when they expire.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Needs the **Custom Information** feature — CCM parity for Community Builder profile fields, so migrating clubs normally have it.
  * Answers are collected at checkout, per curler, only for the programs, memberships or seasons in the question's **Scope**. Proxy registration collects them in the wizard.
  * Answers show on the member's **Custom Info** profile tab, under **Checkout answers**, and can expire, so a question can be re-asked each season.
  * For a field that belongs on the member's own record, like a Community Builder field, use a club field instead: see [How do I add my own profile fields?](/club/memberships-and-members/how-do-i-add-my-own-profile-fields). **Members → Questions** lists only checkout questions.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Questions">
    Go to **Members → Questions** (headed **Custom Information Questions**) and click **Add Question**.

  <Step title="Write the question">
    Fill **Question** and an optional **Description (optional)**. Pick the **Answer Type**: Number, Yes / No (with **Require signature when answered 'Yes'**), Signature, Short Text, Long Text, Image Upload, Dropdown or Date. Tick **Required question** if it must be answered.

  <Step title="Validity and scope">
    Set **Validity Period** — **Indefinite (never expires)** or **Expires after a set number of days**. Under **Scope** choose Programs, Events, Memberships or Passes, each **All** or **Specific**, or **By Season**. Save.

To ask a question on Step 1 of the signup wizard instead, add it as a **Club question** in the registration form builder — six of the eight types qualify (not Signature or Image Upload).
