# What are rounds?

> Rounds (stages) split a league's schedule into segments with their own points and standings; here is where they are created and how games get one.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Your club may call rounds **Draws** or **Flights** (Settings → Club Settings → Club terminology). The screens follow that choice.
  * Rounds have a name and a type only — **no dates**. A game belongs to a round because you stamped it with one.
  * Rounds are created on the **Standings** tab (as stages), not on League Setup.
</Note>

A round is a segment of the season — first half, second half, playoffs — that standings and points can be figured separately for.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create the round">
    Open the league, click **Standings**, then **New stage**. Give it a **Name** (the placeholder suggests "Pool A") and a **Type**: **Round robin** or **Bracket**. To delete one, pick it in the stage filter and click the trash icon (**Delete this stage**).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Put games in it">
    Games are stamped with a round when you generate them (the **Stage (optional)** field in **Generate schedule**), when you **Add game** (its **Stage** field) or with **Mass edit** (**Stage: keep / clear / …**). The single-game edit dialog in the new view has no round field; use Mass edit to move a game between rounds.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Give the round its own points">
    The points grid on **League Setup → Points** has one row per round × division, so a playoff round can score differently from the regular season.
  </Step>
</Steps>

In the classic view rounds are created on the rounds listing screen with a name and a **Type** (**Round Robin** / **Playoffs (bracket)**), and the classic **Edit Game** form has a round select.
