# What happens when I remove a staff member?

> Remove Staff Member takes the person off your club's staff list and nothing else: their login, their membership at your club and their other clubs are untouched.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * **Remove Staff Member** (Settings → Staff → row **Actions**) removes the person from **your club's staff** only, along with their access levels and permissions here. Their login, their curling profile and membership at your club, and any other club they belong to are not affected. It needs the *users.delete* permission.
  * You can't remove yourself. Someone recorded on an incident report can't be removed either. The message reads "This staff member is recorded on incident reports and can't be removed. Remove their permissions instead."
  * If the person is also named as a manager on a league, they keep the League Portal for that league until you remove them from the league's **League managers** card too.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Staff">
    Go to **Settings → Staff**, find the person and open the row's **Actions** menu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Remove">
    Choose **Remove Staff Member**. The prompt reads "Remove \{name} from this club's staff? Their account, club membership and any other clubs they belong to are not affected." Click **Remove**. The toast confirms "\{name} has been removed from this club's staff."
  </Step>
</Steps>

After removal the person can still sign in as an ordinary member. Their registrations, results and invoices stay as they were, but they are sent to the members' area rather than the dashboard. To bring them back, invite the same email address again.

To take away some access and keep them on the staff list, open **Actions → Edit Staff Member** instead. Untick access levels in the **Access Levels** card and click **Save access levels**, or adjust **Granular Permissions** and click **Save Permissions**. For someone on incident reports, this is the only option.
