  * Needs the *events.create* permission (Curling Administrators and the **Curling League Admin** and **Curling Communications** levels have event permissions).
  * Leave **Open for public registration** off for internal items such as board meetings; on means "List this event on your website and let the public register for it."
  * A staff member missing a certification the club requires for events cannot be assigned to one.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="General">
    Go to **Registrations → Events** and click **Add Event**. Under **Event Details** enter the **Event Name** (required), a **Description**, a **Category** and the **Event Type**. You can **Copy from Existing** to start from a past event. Set a **Price** ("Optional. Leave blank or set to 0 for free events.").

    Decide on **Open for public registration**. When it is on, **Registration Availability** appears: **Open Registration Now**, or **Schedule Registration** with **Registration Opens** and **Registration Closes** dates and times.

  </Step>
</Steps>

On the event's page you can **Register Member** to add attendees by hand, and the **Preview** / **View on site** buttons show what the public sees once the event is published.
