# How do I check in event attendees?

> Use the Events Portal at the door to mark attendees present, by list, by QR code or by search.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * The Events Portal is a separate, tablet-friendly site on the `events.` host, listed under the dashboard sidebar's access points as **Events Portal** when the Events feature is on and your access level can view events or send communications.
  * It shows **today's** events only.
  * Check-in writes attendance regardless of the **Attendance** analytics feature (which only gates the **Members → Attendance** page and is off for CCM clubs).
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the portal">
    Click **Events Portal** in the dashboard sidebar (or go to the `events.` address of your club). The home page, **Events Today**, lists each event with **Quick Check-in**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check people in">
    Open an event to see **Attendees (\{count})**, filtered by **All Attendees**, **Registered Only** or **Not Checked In**. Click **Check In** beside a name; the badge turns to **Checked In** (or **Late**).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Or scan and search">
    **QR Check-in** ("Scan member QR codes for quick check-in") uses the device camera — click **Start Camera** and scan the member's code from their account. **Member Search** ("Find and check in members manually") finds anyone, including walk-ins who did not pre-register.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If you work for more than one club, the **Events Portal** link opens the events of the club you clicked it from, switching you to that club if you were last working in another (*Switching to \{club}…*). If you have no access to that club's events, the portal stays on your current club and says so: *You don't have access to that club's events — showing \{club} instead.*

The portal's **Back to Dashboard** link returns you to the club dashboard. If you open the `events.` address while signed out, you are sent to sign in and then brought back to the portal.

Back in the dashboard, the event's attendee list shows each person as **Signed Up**, **Present** or **Absent**.
