# How do I send an email campaign?

> Walk through the four-step New Email Campaign wizard: audience, content, preview and send.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * **Communication → Email Campaigns** is part of the CCM-parity feature set (**Email Campaigns**), so a migrated club has it. Viewing needs *View Communication*; sending needs *Send Communication*.
  * **Schedule for Later** sends the campaign automatically within about a minute of the date and time you pick. The same plan allowance and broadcast-credit checks as **Send Now** apply at that moment. **Save as Draft** keeps it for later, and a draft's row menu offers **Send Now**.
  * Every campaign email carries an unsubscribe link. Someone who opts out of your club's mail is skipped by every campaign, whatever its **Classification** — receipts and other transactional emails still reach them.
  * Your plan's monthly email allowance applies; if broadcast-credit metering has been enabled for your club, credits are checked too.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Campaign">
    Click **New Campaign**. Give it a **Campaign Name** ("for your internal reference only"), pick a **Classification** (General, Program Update, Event Update, Membership, Billing, Newsletter) and choose the audience under **Send To**. Use **Refine the audience** to narrow by **Membership status**, **Leagues**, **Divisions** and **Sessions** — see [Who receives an email campaign?](/club/communications/who-receives-an-email-campaign). A live line shows **N recipients will receive this email**. Click **Next**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Content">
    Write the **Subject Line** and the body. **Insert Placeholder** drops merge fields at the cursor — member and guardian names and emails, membership name and end date, program name, organization name, phone and email, current date and year.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Preview">
    Check **Campaign**, **Recipients**, **Subject**, **Audience** and the **Email Preview**. Click **Send test to me** to receive one real copy at your own address, merged with your own data. A test uses no credits and creates no campaign.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send">
    The screen reads "Your campaign "\{name}" is ready to go to \{count} recipients." Choose **Send Now**, **Schedule for Later** (pick a date and time, then **Schedule**) or **Save as Draft**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Afterwards the list shows each campaign's status (**Draft**, **Scheduled**, **Sending**, **Completed**, **Failed**, **Cancelled**) with **Recipients**, **Opened %** and **Clicked %**. Click a row for **Campaign Details** — delivered, opened, clicked, failed/bounced counts and the body; a failed campaign shows **Why it failed**. A scheduled campaign that can't go out when its time comes (campaigns switched off for your club, the plan's allowance used up, or not enough broadcast credits) is marked **Failed** with the reason, rather than sent. The row menu offers **Duplicate**, and **Send Now** and **Delete** for drafts.
