# What is the Hero spend cap?

> Hero runs on a monthly allowance; Usage → Hero shows what has been used and lets an administrator allow billed overage up to a limit.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * The **Usage → Hero** page is shown only when Hero is enabled for the club. Changing the spend controls needs the *Edit Settings* permission ("You need the Settings edit permission to change these.").
  * By default Hero **stops** when the included monthly allowance is used up and the club is never billed extra.
  * The **Usage** section is hidden in the classic view.
</Note>

The page is headed **Hero usage** — "What your club has spent on the Hero assistant this month, and the limits it runs under." Its explainer reads: "Your plan includes \{included} of Hero usage each month. By default Hero stops once that's used up. Turn on overage to keep working up to a limit you set — anything past your allowance is billed monthly at our cost plus a \{markup}% markup."

**This month** shows **Used this month**, **Included allowance**, **Overage (billed monthly)**, **Remaining**, **Projected month-end**, **Resets on** and **Spend limit** (or **Uncapped**).

**Spend controls**:

* **Allow billed overage** — off: "Hero stops when your included allowance is used up — you're never billed extra." On: "Hero keeps working past your included allowance, up to the limit below."
* **Monthly spend limit** — must be at least the included allowance.
* **Email alert threshold** — a percentage of the included allowance at which administrators are emailed (once per month).
* **Save changes**.

When the cap is reached, Hero answers: "You've reached this club's Hero usage limit for this month, so I've paused. A club admin can raise it under Usage → Hero in the dashboard, and it resets at the start of next month." The allowance resets on the date shown under **Resets on**.
