# Why do members have to sign waivers again after the move?

> CCM kept only a typed name per waiver column, with no date or text. Uplifter Curling keeps a dated signing per waiver version; the CCM names come across as history, and every member signs once more in the signup wizard.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * CCM showed each release (a Joomla article) with an **Enter Your Name** box, and stored only that string in a Community Builder column — overwritten every season, with no date and no copy of the text. Some CCM versions had an agree button that stored nothing at all.
  * The import creates your club's waivers from its CCM release articles, set to **full name** (or a click-to-agree where no one ever typed a name) and reset each season, with the age bands CCM used.
  * Each member's CCM name comes across as **Imported from CCM** history. It does **not** count as signed: every member types their name once in Uplifter at their next signup — just as CCM made them re-type it every season.
  * **Members → Waivers** stays visible for a CCM club even though CCM had no such screen — it is what gates registration, so the club must be able to see and edit it.
</Note>

## What a waiver is here

A waiver has text, a version, an agreement mode (full name, click to agree, an exact phrase or a drawn signature), an optional validity in days or a reset every season, optional minimum and maximum ages, and can be required per league, per membership group or per booking. Every signing records who signed (the curler, a parent or guardian, or staff at the desk), the name typed, when, and the exact text version agreed to. Editing the text publishes a new version; earlier signings keep the version they agreed to.

## What members experience

On their next registration the wizard shows the club's release in the **releases** step, as CCM's step 4 did: they type their name (a parent or guardian's for a minor) or tick to agree, and continue. As in CCM, the name is not matched against the account. The signing is valid for the period the waiver declares; a per-season waiver asks again next season. Members can see their signed waivers, with the history and the text as agreed, from their account.

## Why the imported names do not count as signed

A CCM name has no date and no record of which text was shown, and CCM reset it every season anyway. Treating it as a current signature would claim consent the club cannot show, so it is kept as history — visible to staff and the member — and the member signs once in Uplifter.

The plan warns when a waiver's text could not be found (**WAIVER\_TEXT\_MISSING**: the waiver is created as a draft with placeholder text for the club to fill in) and when an imported name is suspiciously short (**WAIVER\_NAME\_SHORT**, kept anyway).

## Age targeting

A waiver with age bounds applies to curlers in range, measured on the day they register. A curler with no date of birth is treated as in range so a required waiver is never skipped.
